In 1991, DANNY
was invited by the Tyalice Dance Company in France as a Guest Dance Master. During his stay in France, Danny also participated
in producing a movie entitled "The Lover” as a movement choreographer of the love scenes. In 1992, he returned
to Hong Kong and continued his teaching at the HKAPA.
It was during this time when his interest in video and film
productions started to blend into his professional career. In the following year, he studied in TV/Film at the HKAPA, Hong
Kong Film Institute, and the Hong Kong Director’s Guild. With his background in modern dance choreography and instruction
and his newly acquired knowledge in video production, he started to create a new multi-media art form called “Video
Dance,” which consists of film language, video-making technique and most importantly, dance choreography.
In
May 1993 while on a tour as a Guest Principal Dancer with the City Contemporary Dance Company to Australia, Danny further
his study and research in up-to-date video and film production technology at the Australia Film Television Radio School in
Sydney. He then compiled a brief curriculum and taught two part-time courses in Video Dance Workshop at the Hong Kong Arts
Center and Hong Kong City University in 1994. In 1995, Danny successfully launched the first full-time Video Dance Workshop
at the National Institute of the Arts in Taipei, Taiwan. He also received the Associate teacher certificate with the Australia
teacher of Dancing in the same year.
He was invited by Peggy Wu of Jazz Dance Company in Taiwan & and as an
Artistic Consultant to the China Hong Kong International Dance & Sports Association.
With this latest achievement
in Taiwan, Danny So is now the first artist ever to have created, educated, produced, and promoted the art form of VIDEO DANCE
in Asia.
